Wireless Netvision Service

Wireless Netvision is based on fixed point wireless technology. With Wireless Netvision, you can count on Internet access that's:

  • Fast.
Wireless Netvision connects you to the Internet at speeds faster than today's dial-up modems.

  • Affordable.
    Wireless Netvision is affordably priced.

  • Always on.
The Wireless Netvision connection is active the moment your computer is turned on. No need to dial in to surf the Internet.

  • Quick Installation.
Wireless Netvision service can be installed quickly because we are not dependent on the local telephone company. No telephone lines are required.

The Wireless Netvision service consists of multiple radio base stations called Wireless Point of Presence (WPOP) deployed in the Elgin area. The WPOPs are connected to our Network Operation Center (NOC) via high-speed data lines or high-speed radio links. The NOC is connected to the  Internet with multiple high-speed T1 lines.
Wireless Netvision subscribers connect to one of the WPOPs using a small 12" square panel antenna that is typically mounted on their home or business. Subscribers typically need a clear line of sight to one of our WPOPs to gain service.
To provide the best possible service, the subscriber antenna should have a clear line of sight to one of our WPOPs. Such things as trees, buildings, and other structure can interfere with the connection. Our network has been designed to provide the best possible line of sight in our coverage areas. However there will be areas that we show as having coverage but are not able to provide service because of obstructions. We offer a free no obligation site survey of your location to determine if your home or business has the required line of sight to our network.

We continually review our system and identify additional coverage areas. If we are not able to provide service in your location today we may be able to cover your location in the future.

The first step of the installation at the subscribers location is to mount an antenna on the subscribers home or office. We offer many types of roof mounts for both residential and business locations. We will install up to a ten foot mast on the subscribers structure to achieve the best possible wireless link.

We run a thin cable from the antenna on the roof to a location in your home or business near your computer. If you have an existing network, we will need to locate our equipment near a hub or switch in your network.

We place a small digital interface unit next to your computer or existing network equipment. The digital interface unit requires 110 AC power and connects to your computer or network using standard Ethernet cables.

If you wish to run multiple computers on the high-speed link, you will need a switch or hub to connect the additional computers to the digital interface unit.
